Marrakech Map: Every Sight, Free Spot and Quarter on One Screen
This Marrakech map carries 24 pins in four colours: 13 ticketed sights with the door price an international adult pays, 6 places that charge nothing, 4 quarters and the airport. Every pin links to the page that explains it and to Google Maps for directions, and the same pins repeat as a text list underneath, because a list can be read and a pin cannot. Distances on this page are straight lines from Jemaa el-Fna, computed from each place's published coordinates; the walking figures are ours, and how the whole Marrakech guide is organised is the wider picture.
Quick answer What the colours mean, what the pins carry, how far apart they are
Eighteen of the 24 pins sit within a 40-minute walk of Jemaa el-Fna, and 11 of those within 20 minutes, which is why Marrakech reads as a small city until you try to cross the medina in a straight line. Blue pins are ticketed, green pins charge nothing, grey pins are quarters rather than venues and the ochre pin is the airport.
Key takeaways
- Every blue pin prints the international adult fare in dollars and dirhams, from the authority that sets it: four doors at $10.65 (100 MAD), the madrasa at $5.33 (50 MAD), Jardin Majorelle at $18.11 (170 MAD).
- The fastest way to make the map make sense on the ground is a one-hour private tuk-tuk circuit, listed at $16, which threads the outer boulevards the lanes hide.
- Two pins share one coordinate and one place has no pin at all: the Mellah carries no published coordinate anywhere, and the gap is left visible rather than filled in.
- Prices, closing days and the whole ticket layer sit on the tickets index; the walking order is on things to do.
The Map
Numbered pins, filtered by the chips. The list under the map is the same set in text, grouped the same way, and every entry links to its own page on this site and to Google Maps. Tap a pin for the door price and, where a listing covers it, a booking link.

Pin positions come from each place's published coordinate: Wikidata items verified item by item, and for the Menara pavilion the Ministry of Culture's own ticketing page. Door prices are the international adult fare read from the authority that sets each one, checked in Q3 2026. Two exceptions are on the record rather than hidden: the souks pin repeats the medina coordinate, because no official coordinate exists for the souks as an entity, and the Mellah has no pin, because Wikidata carries no coordinate for it and no Moroccan source supplied one.
How Far Each Pin Is From Jemaa El-Fna
Straight-line distances from the square, computed from the same published coordinates the map uses, with our own walking estimate beside each one and the door price for context. The three pins outside this table sit far past walking range and are covered underneath it.

Walking figures are ours, not published times: they take the straight-line distance, add roughly a third for the way medina lanes actually run, and assume 4.5 km/h. Three pins are off the scale of the table: the Palmeraie at 7.2 km, the Agafay desert at 24.8 km and ANIMA at 29.3 km, none of which is a walk. Menara airport sits 5.3 km out.
Listings That Cover The Ground On This Map
Seven listings between them reach most of the map: one that circles the city by road, three that walk the medina pins, and three that reach the pins outside the walls. Read every price against the door price in the table above, because a walking tour of the free pins is buying a guide, not an entry.

What The Four Colours Mean
The categories are about money and about what kind of thing the pin is, because those are the two questions a map is asked first.
Blue, ticketed. Thirteen pins where somebody sells a ticket. The fare printed on the pin is what an international adult pays at the window; every one of these venues also publishes a lower Moroccan or resident rate, and several publish a child rate, which is set out on the tickets index and, for families, on Marrakech with kids.
Green, free. Six pins that charge nothing to enter, including the two things most visitors remember: Jemaa el-Fna and the souk lanes running north of it. Free does not mean costless. Performers on the square solicit payment directly and no authority publishes a tariff for any of it, which is the whole argument of Marrakech for free.
Grey, quarters. Four pins that are districts rather than doors: the medina, the Kasbah, Gueliz and Hivernage. A grey pin marks a centroid, not an entrance, so it is a routing aid and nothing more.
Ochre, arrival. One pin, Menara airport, 5.3 km from the square. It is on the map because the first journey of the trip is the one people plan on a map, and because the taxi tariff for it is genuinely contested: a prefectural decision of 2023 sets seven distance zones from 100 MAD, while the official destination guide still prints 70 MAD by day. The board at the rank is the object that settles it.
Prices and hours on every pin come from the authority that sets them: e-services.minculture.gov.ma for the four Ministry monuments and the Menara pavilion, medersabenyoussef.ma for the madrasa, fnm.ma for Dar Si Said, and each private venue's own site. Read in Q3 2026.
The Eleven Pins Inside A Twenty-Minute Walk
Almost everything a first visit wants stands inside one loop, and the loop starts and ends on the square.
North of Jemaa el-Fna the lanes climb through the souks to a tight cluster: the Ben Youssef Madrasa, the Almoravid Koubba and the Musee de Marrakech stand within two hundred metres of one another, with the Maison de la Photographie a few turns east and Le Jardin Secret back down Rue Mouassine. That is five pins, four of them ticketed, and the walk between the furthest two is under ten minutes if you do not stop.
- South east, Bahia Palace and Dar Si Said sit five minutes apart on the same side of the medina.
- South, inside the Kasbah walls, El Badi Palace and the Saadian Tombs are four hundred metres apart.
- West, the Koutoubia esplanade is the shortest walk on the map at 470 metres from the square.
- North east, the tanneries at Bab Debbagh are the outer edge of comfortable walking at 1.3 km.
Why the walking figures on this page are ours
No Moroccan authority publishes walking times between these places, and no venue publishes a visit length either, with one exception: Le Jardin Secret states 45 minutes to two and a half hours for its own garden. Everything else in the table is a straight-line distance from a published coordinate, with roughly a third added because the medina does not run in straight lines. Treat the figures as a routing aid, not a promise.
On a July afternoon, when the mean daily high is 36.6 °C, add more.
The Pins Outside The Walls, And How You Reach Each
Five pins sit past walking range, and each needs a different decision.
Jardin Majorelle and the Musee Yves Saint Laurent stand on the same street on the Gueliz edge, 2.2 km from the square: walkable in about 40 minutes, and a short petit taxi ride otherwise. Take them together, remembering that the museum shuts on Wednesdays while the garden does not, which is the single most common wasted journey in this city.
The Menara basin is 3.4 km west, an easy taxi and a hot walk. The Palmeraie is 7.2 km north east and only makes sense with a reason to be there, usually a camel hour in the groves listed at $21.01. Agafay at 24.8 km and ANIMA at 29.3 km are half-day trips by road, and the Agafay evening, listed at $16.59 for the sunset camel and dinner run, is the one most people take.
The rides that link them
There is no metro, no tram and no lawful ride-hailing app in Marrakech, so movement between the outlying pins is a metered petit taxi, a licensed grand taxi or a booked transfer. Getting around sets out which is which and why the meter, not a quoted price, is the passenger's protection.
The Gaps On This Map, And Why They Are Gaps
Four things are missing from the pins above, and each absence is a finding rather than an oversight.
- The Mellah has no pin. The Wikidata item for the quarter carries no coordinate and no Moroccan source published one, so there is a numbered gap where the historic Jewish quarter should be. (Wikidata Q101034972, checked in Q3 2026) - There are no restaurant pins. There is no MICHELIN Guide restaurant selection for Morocco at all, only a hotel one, so this guide names almost no restaurants and will not pin what it cannot cite. The reasoning is on where to eat.
(guide.michelin.com, Morocco listed under Hotels and Stays only) - The souks pin is the medina pin. No official coordinate exists for the souks as an entity, so the map repeats the medina centroid rather than inventing a point. (No Wikidata item exists for Souk Semmarine or for the souks) - No hours on two pins. The Musee de Marrakech and the tanneries publish neither price nor hours anywhere reachable, so their pins say so. (museedemarrakech.ma unreachable, in Q3 2026)
Where These Coordinates Came From
A map is only as good as the points behind it, so here is the provenance in one place.
Every coordinate on this page is a published one. Most come from the Wikidata item for the place, fetched and confirmed item by item rather than searched by name, which is how the guide caught that Marrakech itself is Q101625 and not the item a first search returns. The Menara pavilion coordinate comes from the Ministry of Culture's own ticketing page, and the medina coordinate is the centroid of UNESCO World Heritage property 331, inscribed in 1985 on four cultural criteria with 1,107 hectares inside the ramparts.
Distances are great-circle calculations between those coordinates, not driving distances, and the difference matters most at the far end: the road to ANIMA is longer than the 29.3 km straight line, and the road to Ouzoud is very much longer than its 127.6 km. Day trips are deliberately off this map for that reason and live on day trips instead, each with its own map.

No combined city pass existsMarrakech Map: Questions
Can I download this Marrakech map for offline use?
Not as a file. Every pin carries an Open in Google Maps link, and Google Maps will download the whole Marrakech area for offline use from the app: search Marrakech, then Download. That matters more here than in most cities, because roofed souk sections cut the signal, which is covered under navigation on getting around.
Why do some pins show no price?
Because no authority publishes one. The Musee de Marrakech has no reachable website and no ministry page carrying its tariff, and the tanneries are working workshops with no published entry fee, no hours and no official guide fee. Grey quarter pins show no price because a district has no door. This guide prints a figure only where a named source sets it.
How walkable is the area these pins cover?
Are the day trips on this map?
No. Essaouira at 169 km, Ait Ben Haddou at 104 km and Ouzoud at 128 km sit far outside this frame, and Merzouga at 384 km is not a day trip at all. Each has its own page and its own map, indexed on day trips.
How current are the door prices on the pins?
Each is the international adult fare read from the authority that sets it in Q3 2026, and repeated on the pin for convenience. Where a pin and its page ever disagree, the page is the source of truth, and the tickets index is the page rechecked most often.
Why does one quarter have no pin?
The Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter now called Hay Essalam, has no published coordinate: its Wikidata item carries none and no Moroccan authority supplied one. Rather than drop a point somewhere plausible, the map leaves the gap and says so, which is the same rule applied to every missing figure on this site.
Marrakech On Film: How The Map Feels On The Ground
Three walk-throughs that show what the distances in the table actually feel like: the lanes between the pins, the souk sections that block a phone signal, and the way the square works as the centre of the whole map.
